1. Scope of work
The Handyman (Contractor) shall perform the services described in the estimate/invoice provided to the Client. Any additional work requested beyond the initial scope will be documented in a Change Order and may result in additional charges.
2. Payment terms
Final Payment: Due immediately upon completion of the work.
Late Fees: A 7-day grace period is provided. If payment is not received within 7 days of the invoice date, a one-time late fee of $25.00 will be applied. For every week the balance remains unpaid thereafter, an additional fee of $15.00 or 1.5% (whichever is greater) will be added to the total.
Payment Methods: We accept Cash, Check, Zelle, Venmo, Credit Cards – note that a 3.5% processing fee may apply to cards.
3. Materials & Shoping policy
Major Materials: Client is responsible for the cost of major items.
Minor Consumables: General shop supplies and minor consumables (e.g., standard screws, nails, wood glue, caulking, sandpaper) are included in the service price at no additional cost to the Client.
Complimentary Store Trip: As a courtesy, the Contractor provides one 1 complimentary trip to the home improvement store per project to pick up necessary materials.
Additional Trip Fees: If additional trips to the store are required due to Client error (e.g., wrong item purchased by Client, change of mind, or insufficient information provided), a Store Trip Fee of $50.00 per trip will be added to the final invoice.
4. Petmits and compliance
The Client is responsible for determining if any permits, inspections, or authorizations are required by local ordinances, Homeowners Associations (HOA), or municipal authorities for the requested work. The Client assumes all responsibility for obtaining and paying for such permits or approvals. The Contractor shall perform the work as an independent service provider according to the Client’s instructions and specifications.
5. Client responsibilities
Access: Client must provide access to the property during scheduled hours.
Workspace: The work area must be cleared of personal items, furniture, and debris before the Contractor arrives. Contractor is not responsible for damage to items left in the work area.
Safety: Children and pets must be kept away from the work area at all times.
6. Limited warranty
Labor: Contractor provides a 60-day warranty on labor (workmanship).
Exclusions: This warranty does not cover materials (which may be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty), normal wear and tear, or damage caused by the Client’s misuse or neglect.
Right to Cure: Per Texas law, the Client must notify the Contractor of any defects and allow a reasonable opportunity to repair the issue before seeking outside remedies.
7. Liability & insurance
Contractor is not liable for pre-existing conditions (e.g., faulty wiring, hidden mold, structural rot) discovered during the project.
Contractor maintains General Liability Insurance.
Total liability is limited to the amount paid for the services rendered.
8. Texas lien law notice
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Under Texas law, if the Contractor is not paid for the services and materials provided, a lien may be placed on your property. This could result in your being forced to pay twice or your property being sold to satisfy the debt.
9. Dispute resolution
Any disputes arising from this agreement shall be resolved through mediation or in the Small Claims Court of [Your County], Texas.
10. Acceptance
By signing below (or by authorizing work via email/text/payment of deposit), the Client agrees to these Terms and Conditions.
